English Literature Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

English Literature - Assignment Example They are getting married soon and still they have their little conflicts and misunderstanding. Nevertheless, they act consciously and soberly and hope to turn their primary hostility into love: Titania and Oberon is another case. This is a couple of two strong individuals. Each of them wants to be the leader and to impose the power on the other. Nobody wants to have a compromise with this little â€Å"changeling boy†. Titania is not drugged with anything and her choice is explained by her proud character and conflicting nature of her personality. But apparently the queen Titania is more stubborn and hostile to her husband and needs to be more obedient as a woman. Oberon hints her o that in one of the replicas: He claims that he did not control himself and was not able to differentiate between his real intensions and his new obsession. But now his love to Hermina reminds him a childish toy he loved so much but does not feel anything now it except for some vague nostalgia. Childhood is used as a metaphor here because children are often too emotional about some things. They can cry about toys or broken sand castles that seem great for them at one moment and soon forget about these things completely. And Demetrius blames some unknown powers that controlled him. Later he compares his temporary madness to mental sickness: After tis sickness is gone he is capable of tasting, thinking, reasoning. So the nature of behavior of these three characters is different with Titania`s and Hyppolita`s behavior explained by their types of characters while Demetrius`s deeds were driven by his madness, sickness. And as readers we have privilege to know that he is right as the man was under the influence of magic. The Wife of Bath`s Prologue ends with triumph of the wife over her last husband and her gaining this sovereignty so desired by all the women. However, her way of receiving control and power was long and required a lot of experience. To begin

Funding a new biotechnology firm Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Funding a new biotechnology firm - Assignment Example Initial Public Offering (IPO) is the primary source of fundraising for the public limited companies only. Other sources of funds can be used by sole traders and partnerships. Debentures are special types of loans which are mostly secured. Apart from debentures, the companies can apply for normal types of loans and leases. Government grants can be another option. However, the most famous and used source of fund for the new businesses is the venture capitalists. The venture capitalists are firms which provide the new entrepreneurs with the required initial investment (Soderblom & Wiklund, 2006). According to Lebherz (2010), as middlemen in the financial industry, VC (venture capitalist) obtain funds or finance from the investors and then provide these funds to different entrepreneurs but is only available to the private organisations. The main aim of the VC is to ensure that at exit the overall return is maximised, either by selling of the firm or by IPO and it often use to facilitate the process of internal growth. To a large extent, institutional investor including PE (private equity) is another approach for external finance. However, these entities have prior knowledge for the economic market and often take many precautions before involving money in. POSSIBLE FUNDING OPTIONS FOR THE START UP BIOTECHNOLOGY FIRM: Today, although labelled with ‘fast-growing’, biotech venture is avoided by a number of investors. In order to decide for the funding options for the start up biotechnology firm, it is better to study and explore the market trend in this regard. Different Technology Based Small Firms (TBSF) have been able to achieve growth in the previous three years. Different research studies have shown that the Technology Based Small Firms are usually discouraged... After exploring and analysing the current market situation along with the funding history, it can be concluded that the existing financial and market situation has made it difficult for the start-up business to acquire funds from the external sources and there have been increasing financial gap. Apart from this there is increasing uncertainty among the entrepreneurs about the approval of the applications for funds. All this information and data implies that the new biotechnology firm should first go for internal sources of funds and the group of entrepreneurs should pool in the available money. Then, the remaining funds should be financed through the venture capitalists firms. Venture capitalists firms are ready to facilitate the new innovative business in the process of collecting required funds and finance. Also, these firms ensure a successful exit strategy and provide the entrepreneurs with their valuable insights and opinions. As the venture capital cycle turns bigger and strong er in this way, institutional investors might be tempted in this new venture which beneficial to further growth. In the third stage the biotechnology firms can go for Initial Public Offering.

The Raven - Edgar Allan Poes Essay Example for Free

The Raven Edgar Allan Poes Essay Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is one of the most significant writers in the American history. Well known for its mystery and horror stories he is considered part of the Romantic movement in US and the inventor of detective fiction genre. On January 29, 1845 he publishes his poem The Raven in the Evening Mirror which granted him with immense fame (Edgar Allan Poe: A Critical Biography 1941). The editor of the publishing newspaper wrote: It is the most effective single example of â€Å"fugitive poetry† ever published in this country; and unsurpassed in English poetry for subtle conception, masterly ingenuity of versification, and consistent, sustaining of imaginative lift and â€Å"pokerishness. † It is one of these â€Å"dainties bred in a book† which we feedon. It will stick to the memory of everybody who reads it(Evening Mirror, New York, January 29, 1845). The poem is of great artistic merit, it exudes many emotions and arise many feelings. Every reading of the poem gives new experience and new feelings but when You got familiar with Poes life a inevitable question is arising. Putting together The raven and Poes life we can see that the place where the poem is written corresponds to the room where the action of the story is held in addition the raven represents Poes inner self, furthermore for the image of the narrator Poe uses for prototype himself and all these lead to the conclusion that The Raven is Poes own view about his fate. The correspondence between the time and the settings of the poem and the time and conditions it was written supports the idea of coherence between the story of the poem and the prediction for the future that lies before the author. The Raven was published in January 29, 1845, according to The New York Times at that time Poe and his wife Virginia lived at a farm house in New York. In 1844 the farm house was away from the city. Poes home stood on a rocky and commanding eminence a few hundred feet of 84 Street and St. Nicholas Boulevard, at that time Manhattan was a country north of Greenwich Village otted with tiny hamlets(The New York Times January 1, 1908). This distant and isolated house was his sanctuary giving him solitude from the world outside. We can see quite the same at the opening of the poem with depiction of the room. The room is closed claustrophobic place well furnished with lots of books and heavy curtains which give a sense of isolation And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtain (line 13) Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust and door (line 68) Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking (line 69). Isolation and solitude is was the narrator is seeking in order to surcease the inner pain and sorrow. What is more the time of the action in the poem and the time of its writing is the same winter. The poem was published in January 29 and the process of the writing can take us a month back in December. December is the time in which the action in the poem is held. The view from Poes distant house away from the city during the winter is only bare uplands which co-responds to the description he gave bleak December at the beginning of the second stanza Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December (line 7). In a nutshell the place, in which he lived at the time of the writing of The Raven, resembles the place in which the action takes place. Another evident in favor of the statement that the poem corresponds exactly to the view about Poes fate is the fact that he uses himself for prototype of the protagonist in the poem. The narrator possess many books which refers that he is well educated and intelligent as Poe himself. The protagonist is suffering from great inner pain and sorrow and vainly hoping for a cure Is there—is there balm in Gilead? —tell me—tell me, I implore! (line 89) as does Poe at the time, according to Arthur Quinn , in which the poem was published his great love Virginia had been sick from Tubercolosis for three years, her death is inevitable and Poe is aware of it (Edgar Allan Poe: A Critical Biography 1941). Another confirmation is the fact that the narrator is using the books for distraction from the painful reality which Poe had been doing for a long time Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary / Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore (lines 1- 2). In brief the narrator is a mirror image of Edgar Allan Poe. The fact that The Raven represents Poes inner personality confirms the statement that the poem is Poe foresight about his fate. We can see the manner in which Poe rites The Raven with capital R which tells us that it is not any raven. Well known for his macabre stories full with horror, this ebony bird is his black soul, his sinister mind. His talk with the bird asking if he will be or will be not again reunited with his beloved Lenore in the after life is a symbol of his inner doubts and desires Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn (line 93) It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore— (line 94) Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore. line 95). Another confirmation is the conversation with the bird in which he is begging for nepenthe to release him from sorrow but his request is not fulfilled which represents Poes inner inability to free himself from the pain Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore; (line 82) Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! (line 83)† Quoth the Raven â€Å"Nevermore. †(line 84) An additional element leading to the conclusion that the ominous bird is a personification of Poes inner self is the way how he writes Hope and Hopes with capital H, referring both to the bird and to the narrator On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before. (line 59)/ Till the dirges of his Hope that melancholy burden bore (line 65). In other word the raven is a representation of Poes inner self. To cut a long story short the poem The Raven is Poes view about his own fait. In The Raven the action is held in a place which resembles the house that Poe and his wife Virginia inhabited, also in the story Poe gives life to his dark inner self trough the image of the raven, who took the life of the narrator which prototype is Poe himself. Though the cause of Poes death is unclear, according to Jeffrey Meyers and Charles scriber, Poe had died from Delirium Tremens alcohol poisoning (Edgar Allan Poe Jeffrey Meyers, Charles Scriber, 1992) responsible for which is Poe himself or in particular his inner inability to resist the need of alcohol. In other words the foresight had been fulfilled.

Siebel Assignment Manager Rules Engine Computer Science Essay

Siebel Assignment Manager Rules Engine Computer Science Essay Siebel Assignment Manager is a rules engine that allows sales and service organizations to assign the most qualified people to specific tasks. Assignment Manager accomplishes this function by matching candidates to predefined and user-configurable assignment objects. To assign the most qualified candidate to each object, Assignment Manager applies assignment rules that you define. For you to define assignment rules, you select: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Objects to which each assignment rule applies à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Rule Groups to which each assignment rule applies (optional) à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Criteria for each assignment rule à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Values for each assignment criteria à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Skills to match assignment rules, objects, organizations, employees, and positions à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Scores for each assignment rule, criteria, and value à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Candidates that are scored using the assignment rule à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¢ Workload rules to balance work across your organization Terminology of Assignment Manager: Assignment Object: In Siebel Assignment Object is repository Data type which is need to be assigned. Based on Assignment Rule Assignment Manager finds the suitable candidate. A number of predefined assignment objects are available for use by Assignment Manager for the most commonly used business entities in Siebel Business Applications. Some of the predefined assignment objects are: à ¢-   Account à ¢-   Activity à ¢-   Campaign à ¢-   Campaign Contact à ¢-   Contact à ¢-   Opportunity à ¢-   Order (Sales Credit Assignment) à ¢-   Product Defect à ¢-   Project à ¢-   Project Team à ¢-   Service Request Assignment Rule: In Siebel Assignment Manager, an assignment rule is a collection of logical business boundaries. Each assignment rule has an activation and an expiration date that you can use to denote a range of dates for when the rule should be active. If you specify an activation date and no expiration date, the rule is active from the date denoted by the activation date onwards. If you specify an expiration date and no activation date, the rule is active until the date denoted by the expiration date. If you do not specify neither the activation date nor the expiration date, the rule is always active. Assignment Criteria: In Siebel Assignment Manager, assignment criteria enforce business conditions when applied to assignment rules. An assignment rule can have one or more assignment criteria. For Each criterion specific values can be given if required. Running mode of Assignment Manager: Batch ModeUse batch assignment to assign multiple records of an object in a single batch. Typically, you want to run batch jobs periodically when you anticipate the least amount of database activity (such as daily or weekly after-hours). Dynamic ModeDynamic assignment is especially useful in a deployment where users and server programs make frequent changes to the assignment object records (such as service requests and activities) because dynamic assignment can automatically determine the changes and assign the objects to the appropriate people and organizations. Interactive ModeRunning Assignment Manager in interactive mode allows end users to make real-time assignments. End users can review a list of potential assignees generated by Assignment Manager, then select and confirm, or override the assignment from the generated potential candidate list. Creating Assignment Rule (Considering Service Request as Assignment Object) Goto SiteMap->Admin Assignment DrillDown on Rule Group List Create a new Record Name Parent Rule Group Activation Expiration SR Assignment (If required) Date(From when rule group should be Active) Date(After this Date rule group should be expired) Drilldown on Rule Group Name Create Assignment Rule in Rule List Applet Name SR Assignment Rule For Object to be Assigned, Create a new record in PickApplet and select an Object. Fill Other fields Object To Be Assigned Activation Expiration Sequence Service Request Date(From when rule should be Active) Date(After this Date rule should be expired) 1 Drill Down on Assignment Rule, Fill the Candidate Details on the basis of requirement. Important fields, there values and descriptionà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦.. Assignee Filter Field Assignee Filter Field Values Assignee Filter Description All, Above Minimum Use assignees with an assignment score greater than or equal to the assignment rules candidate passing score. Assigns one or more assignees. All, Must Assign Same as the All, Above Minimum value, except that the highest-scoring candidate is a potential assignee even if all candidates fail to meet the candidate passing score. Assigns one or more assignees. One, Best Fit Use the highest scoring assignee with an assignment score greater than or equal to the candidate passing score. Assigns one assignee. One, Random Choose a random assignee whose score is greater than or equal to the candidate passing score required for this assignment rule. Assigns one assignee. NOTE:  Ã‚  If you do not use scores, the candidate passing score on the assignment rule and all qualifying candidate scores are treated as zero. Therefore, every qualifying candidate (every candidate that passes all required criteria) is assigned depending on the assignee filter. The assignee filter determines how candidates are evaluated as potential assignees to the object. 2.2 Person Candidates Source From Rule. To assign the objects only to candidate (positions and employees) defined in the rule. All People. Checks Assignment Skills of the entire candidate (positions and employees) Teams. The person dynamic candidate teams you define in Siebel Tools (the value of the Team Type property in the Dynamic Candidate object) appear in the Person Candidates Source list of values (LOV) field in the assignment rule. 2.3 Organization Candidates Source From Rule. To assign the objects only to candidate (Organization) defined in the rule. All People. Checks Assignment Skills of the entire candidate (Organization). Teams. The organization dynamic candidate teams you define in Siebel Tools appear in the Organization Candidates Source list of values (LOV) field in the assignment rule. Check Employee Calendar Field If check then Assignment Manager checks the employees availability by checking its calander. Assignment Criteria: Goto Assignment Rule DrillDown on the Rule Name In Criteria tab, Create a new record Rule Criterion Service Request Type Comparison Method:Assignment Manager uses criteria comparison methods to qualify objects or candidates, or both, foran assignment rule Comparison Method Description Compare to Object Criteria values are compared with objects attribute. Compare to Person Compares criteria values to skills of person candidates (employees or positions). Person candidates that possess the skills required by the criterion qualify for this criterion. Compare Object to Person Objects attribute is compared with Assignment Skills of the candidates (employees or positions), Object is assigned to one candidates (employees or positions). Compare to Organization Compares criteria values to skills of Organization candidates. Organization candidates that possess the skills required by the criterion qualify for this criterion. Compare Object to Organization Objects attribute is compared with Assignment Skills of the organization candidates, Object is assigned to one organization candidates. Inclusion Method: Inclusion Method Description Include Attribute value must match at least criteria value Include All Attribute value must match all criteria value Include All Matching All Attribute value must match matching criteria value Exclude Attribute value should exclude all criteria value 5. Enter the criteria value by creating new record. Adding Candidates: Goto Employee candidate Add database users by creating new record. Workload distribution: Workload distribution is a special criteria type that balances the load between candidates. You create workload distribution by adding workload rules in the Assignment Workload view for employees and positions, or the Assignment Organization Workload view for organizations. Workload distribution is generally used with service assignments. Goto Workload Distribution Rule view. Create a new record Name Object To Be Assigned AssignServiceRequest Service Request Provide the condition for workload Condition Field Comparison Operator Value Service Request Status = Open Add this Workload distribution rule to Assignment Rule. Goto Assignment Rule Drilldown on Rule Name-> Goto Workload Distribution tab Create a new record. Select workload distribution rule Give a value for Maximum Workload Eg. 100. Give Score value if required. Finally Goto Assignment Rule and press Release button to make it available. Running Assignment Manager (Batch Mode): Goto Admin-Server Management-> Jobs Create a new record with following details Give the Component Name Batch Assignment Make the job repeating by giving following details Repeating Y Repeat Unit Minutes Repeat Interval 5 Enter the following job parameter. Name Value Assignment Object Name Service Request Object Where Clause where SR_STAT_ID = Open AND OWNER_EMP_ID IS NULL Submit the JOB. Dynamic Candidate: They are the potential assignee for assignment object. Similar to Static Candidate. These are the group of members for which Assignment Manager works. Dynamic Candidate mainly works for Compare Object to Person. This of two types, Single Owner Type: Only one candidate will be associated with Assignment Object. Multiple Owner Type: Multiple Members Will be associated with Assignment Object. For Configuring Dynamic Candidate, It is need to be configured from Tool side. The advantage of Dynamic Candidate is to reduce the list of members for assignment. Configuring Dynamic Candidate; Login into Siebel Tools. Query for Service Request in workflow policy. Goto Service Request Assignment Object. Goto Dynamic Candidate, Configure this according to following data. Compile Service Request Workflow Policy. This Team (Dynamic members) will be available in Person Candidate List. Case Study of Assignment Manager: Requirement Æ’Â  Service Request created under Account should be assigned to a candidate on the basis of following points: Service Request Type(Type Of Service Request) Employee Circle(SR circle and employee circle should be same) Service Request Shift Details(SR Creation time should be within employee working hour) Market Segment(Market Segment type of Account) Service Request should assign to limited users. Approach:- We have a option of limited no of users, i.e. the value in Person candidate source should be From Rule For Assignee filter we are using All, Above Minimum because we are not using scores. We have added two employees in Employee Candidate. We have Added Workload distribution rule, having maximum load 100. We are Using Compare to Object, Because Criteria values are being compared with Object attribute. Inclusion method is Include because only one value of object attribute is there to match with Assignment criteria value. EBC Steps to create EBCà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦. Log in to Tool Goto File -> New Object (New Object Wizard) Select External Table Schema Import Enter The Following Details Project Any locked Project Schema Source If importing from DDL file then use DDL/Analytics, otherwise use ODBC Character Group Any three random digit After giving these details press Next. Science has Revolutionized the World :: essays research papers

Science may be described as the key to the prevailing mode of life in a so-called developed community. We revel on the idea that we are living in a modernized world which has been given a new look and shape due to science. Science has in fact transformed the world into one of wonders and blessings as well as one of deceit and curse! The wonder of science which is dominating the work-place today and which is powered by another boom of science, electricity is none other than the machine. Today more and more work are being performed by machines. Machines are the key to success in various fields. As a result, this is increasing the production rate which in turn is enabling many business to flourish. With the advent of machines, people are getting more time to pursue their hobbies, among which watching television occupies an important place. Television serves as a means of entertainment. Switching off from daily routinization, the husband can watch live matches available through the satellite while the wife can enjoy watching her favorite soap-operas, resting assured that her household chores are being done by the washing machine or dishwasher. Actually, machines have freed people from performing dull drudgeries and have make life less arduous. In the past, the lady was more healthy as she was not assisted by any electric appliance, she used to cook on the hearth. She had to bring bundle of woods from the neighbouring. In that way she used to entertain the beauty of nature. While chopping the wood at her place, she was doing some physical exercise. But it is a pity to note that a modern lady depends on gaseous stove and rice cooker. The electric washing machine washes her clothes. The electric grinder powders the spices and the electric juicer mixes juices. Owing to absolute reliance on those household appliances, she tends to become bulky, inactive and even look diseased. She hardly entertains a long and happy life. Radio plays a significant role in the context of entertainment.

Class difference in Blood Brothers Essay -- English Literature

How does Willy Russell demonstrate class difference in Blood Brothers? "Blood Brothers" was written by Willy Russell in 1985. A Liverpudlian West Side Story: twin brothers are separated at birth because their mother cannot afford to keep them both. She gives one of them away to wealthy Mrs Lyons and they grow up as friends in ignorance of their blood relationship until the inevitable quarrel caused through 'class' differences leads to the tragic outcome. In this essay, I will examine how Willy Russell demonstrates class differences in his play 'Blood Brothers.' I will be looking at the differences between Mrs Lyons and Mrs Johnson. The differences between Eddie and Mickey as young children at the age of seven. The different police attitudes towards Eddie and Mickey. Also Mickey as a worker and Eddie as a student at university, and the impact, class difference has on the end of the play. Mrs Lyons and Mrs Johnson have many social differences. Mrs Lyons has a comfortable home, and lifestyle - the Lyons can offer Eddie a better life that Mrs Johnson, "If my child was raised in a place like this one, he wouldn't have to worry about where his next meal is coming from." They have a settled, sheltered lifestyle and security for the future. Mrs Lyons is over-protective and controlling, "I've told you never to go where that boy-where boys like that live." Edward has little freedom when young, and grows up with little knowledge of the 'real' world "because, because you're not the same as him. You're not, do you understand?" Mrs Johnson however doesn't have any of this security- she lets Mickey spend much of his time out on the streets unsupervised. She doesn't have a comfortable home and has a world of uncert... ...e easy life, because one family had more money than the other. Eddie got to be a councillor and Mickey a redundant worker. In conclusion, Willy Russell demonstrates class difference through out his play by using two equal boys and putting them in different house holds. Their lives change dramatically because of their class, each of them are treated differently just because of wealth and status. Mickey and Edward's lives are partly ruled by fate, they have little power to change their lives, and their characters are trapped by social circumstances. The final comment is telling- "And do we blame superstition for what came to pass? Or could it be what we, the English, have come to know as class?" This forces the viewer think about social class and the effect it has on our lives and whether we should allow class differences to effect our treatment of others.

Study of Communication Essay -- Human Communication, Ethnography of Sp

Studies on Human Communication The past century has been an enormously productive one in regard to the analysis and description of human communication. Building on the ideas of Ferdinand de Saussure, early structuralists delineated the phonological and morphological building blocks of speech by refining and applying the concepts of the phoneme and the morpheme. In addition to the rigorous description of hundreds of indigenous languages, anthropological linguists using this body of data worked on the problem of language histories and the division of current languages into families of related languages with the concomitant contribution to cultural history. Another achievement was the demonstration that not only was language separate from physical type, but also it was of equivalent complexity regardless of cultural complexity; in Edward Sapir's (1921) phrasing, â€Å"The lowliest South African Bushman speaks in the forms of a rich symbolic system that is in essence perfectly comparable to the speech of the cultivat ed Frenchman.† The second half of the 20th century was dominated by those who followed Noam Chomsky (1957) toward looking at the processes by which sentences are generated from an underlying assemblage of semantic, syntactic, and phrasal elements and their (rearrangements through transformational cognitive processes. For both of these approaches-structural and generative-the symbolic role of communicative forms played little role. There was a concern with meaning, but it was limited to its employment: 1. As part of a method to uncover linguistic units 2. As a lexical tagging element to prevent the generation of semantically inappropriate sentences. A sentence such as â€Å"He is not heavy he is my sister† should not be ge... ...nd the strictures of life are absent, but it is the symbolic dimension that is of interest here. The symbolic values of creativity, spontaneity, freedom, and play are dominant. These symbolic attributes are present in real human interaction, but in a virtual realm there are no limits other than those of nondisclosure and abusiveness for which a member might be censured and even banned. The virtual realm is valued as an improved human condition. The technological ability to construct and maintain this kind of activity creates a new set of symbols or at least a new dimension to the symbols of human life. Presenting oneself as an animal avatar may be no different from performing as a mummer in an animal costume. According to Boellstorff, in Second Life there is a seriousness and commitment to the guises that appears to be a potential rejection of one's real visage.
